A lot of people don't think of contacting their embassy in the UK until they have a problem but it could be useful to know what they are about and how to contact them.

UK Visas

There are six main options for gaining entry into the UK for employment. The most common two used by Aussies and Kiwis are the Youth Mobility Visa and Ancestry Visa. The others are Right of Abode, Spousal Visa, Tier 1 Highly Skilled Migrant Visa and the Tier 2 Work Permit. Each visa has applicable conditions and restrictions.

The Working Holiday Visa was replaced by the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa on 27 Nov 2008. The Tier 5 visa is now available between the ages 18 - 30 and allows you to work for up to 2 years in the UK.
